I Savor the Street Lights
i savor the street lights
for their soft touch
of artificial illumination
provides an illusion
of Man's sustainable existence.
for in the infinite darkness of the night
immortality appears
just as ubiquitous as death
and amongst the slow waltzing,
ditzy dawdling of the world's ensemble,
i am quicksilver
pouring time in a bottle
untouchable
like a moth fluttering past a flame
like a pest breathing in the thick brown air
free at last
i savour the street lights
for their insidious glow of artificial brilliance
blinds the eyes to the rampages of the soul
